We have developed spotted 70-mer oligo-gene microarrays using ~26,000 annotated genes in Arabidopsis. The work is part of the Functional Genomics of Plant Polyploids project funded by the Plant Genome Research Program, National Science Foundation .

In the pilot project, we have compared the sensitivity of 70-mer oligonucleotides and cDNA amplicons for microarray analysis of gene expression in Arabidopsis and its related species ( Lee et al. 2004 ) .  The statistical tools and oligo-gene microarrays developed will be used to analyze changes of gene expression, genome organization, and chromatin structure in Arabidopsis and Brassica polyploids (see reviews in Osborn et al. 2003 and Chen et al. 2004 ).
